Luxury homes in Las Vegas are theoretically worth more in the desert than they are in southern California.

What I mean is, in Socal you can pretty much step outside anytime of the year without the weather assaulting your face.

But when you live in Las Vegas, your luxury home is a fortress from harsh desert temperatures that can quite literally claim your life.

Ok, now that those dark thoughts are out of the way, let’s take a look at the luxury Las Vegas real estate market.

Where are the Luxury Homes in Las Vegas?

Random Places

When I was broke, without a vehicle, and walking 5 miles each way to a job in a cubicle, cold-calling people to sell them Vegas vacation packages for a commission–I always walked this route down Pecos Street, between Warm Springs Road and Sunset Road.

One of the good things about self-transportation via foot, in the Las Vegas November cold (besides the blister on your heel, and the rash on your inner leg near your crotch), is that you get a good look at the scenery around you.

This was the first time I noticed the fencing grew taller, and the homes expanded in size significantly, in some cases sprawling the length of the entire block.

It was only later that I realized this was the block where Casa de Shenandoah is located (Wayne Newton’s former estate).

Point is, the way Vegas has grown over time, in certain areas (such as the block I just described above), you’ll occasionally see a mishmash of luxury homes mixed into the same geographic areas as apartment complexes.

You see this in many luxury communities, like Laguna Beach, for example.

Sunrise Manor

Sunrise Manor, located south of Nellis Air Force Base, has several luxury homes and equestrian estates.

Hendertucky

For luxury homes in the greater Las Vegas area, look to the hills to the south.

Many of those luxury homes on the hills in the south Las Vegas Valley area are technically located in Hendertucky (Henderson, NV) not Vegas, but we are considering it relevant to this article because Henderson is really just a stone’s throw for anyone working in the greater Las Vegas area.
